Anna Hazare Not Allowed In Lucknow University

LUCKNOW:  April 27, 2011

The Lucknow University’s management denied permission to hold students and teachers interactive meeting on Wednesday with Anna Hazare, the renowned social activist known for his successful movement for his proposed LOKPAL anti corruption bill.

The vice chancellor Lucknow University fell into a controversy triggered by his denial to Anna Hazare’s meeting with the teachers alleging that the withdrawal of permission was taken under political pressure.

A spokesman of the Lucknow University Teachers Association (LUTA) said on Wednesday “We demand VC Prof MK Mishra to clarify whether he is receiving instructions from the Raj Bhawan or the state government. If the pressure is from Raj Bhawan, it means Congress doesn’t want such a meeting to take place in the university,”

The LUTA was earlier given permission to hold an interactive session of students and teachers with Anna Hazare but the permission was later cancelled on reports of trouble threats in the meeting.

However, the Lucknow police chief, DK Thakur denied of any such intelligence report and said the security personal had no objection on holding of a meeting with Anna Hazare as the chief guest.
